Self-Healing Practices: EFT®

One of my favorite practices is the Emotional Freedom Technique® (EFT®). EFT® stimulates various acupressure points by tapping on the following meridians: the top of the head, top of the brow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, under the chin, under the collar bone, and under the arm. The sequence is repeated multiple times during a session.

During a typical EFT® session, I will focus on a specific issue while tapping on the points with my fingers while I recite specific phrases relating to something emotional that I’m working on. I practice EFT® in conjunction with a dosing chart and a pendulum so I can gauge my level of emotion before, during, and after an EFT® session. I record my progress as I practice so I’m able to see the EFT® working on my issue over time. I use EFT® a few times per week and I have found great emotional relief!

In the past, I’ve used EFT® on my anger toward my mother and my ex-boyfriend. I no longer have the intense rage I once had toward these people who hurt and traumatized me. Bill W. said “we have to be free of anger” and I can say today that I’m free of the anger I once felt.

I’ve also used EFT® on various fears. I can say that some of those fears are no longer present in my life while others are still a work in progress. I’m currently using EFT® on my anger toward some people at work and it has been helping me a lot!

Please know that I understand I will never be free of emotions and that is not the point, even though the practice is called an Emotional Freedom Technique. The point is to feel my feelings in a healthy way and then use my tools, in this case EFT® , to help me let go of the emotions that hold me back and keep me stuck. Isn’t that really the point? To get to a place of being unstuck?
